What is flame protection?

Flame protection clothing is - in simple words expressed - a clothing which does not burn. The main demand to it is the condition that it does not catch fire by explosion jet flames. It may also not burn up by contacting glowing parts (e.g. welding pearls) with an own flame but only carbonize at that spot where the glowing part is affecting the fabric.

The second demand is to insulate the flame protective clothing in such a way that the heat transmission is prevented as far as possible. If there is no adequate insulation the suit wearer may possibly suffer fatal burns with regard to the heat transmission in spite of the fact that the outer shell of his clothing is probably intact.
