In 1960 the H. Vorndamme OHG developed the first metallized welding tarpaulin. The idea was to coat asbestos fabric with metal in order to have a good heat conductor with which the warmth of welding pearls could be distributed on a larger area.

The falling through of welding pearls should be avoided because …
"MOST BRANDS RESULT FROM CARELESSNESS WHILE WELDING."

Metallized fabric has a lot of advantages in comparison with others. It is easy to handle and snuggles up to any unevenness. Metal sheets or plates are not so flexible.

Today asbestos is no longer used!

BORASIL is absolutely asbestos-free

The basic material consists of a glass / ceramics mixture.
